GIRLS LACROSSE HIGHLIGHTS ,

Congratulations to Jaimie and Jordan McDonell for making the first cut (50 girls) of Team Canada U19 for 2011. The competition in Peterborough this past August was awesome and both girls really did the Stars proud. They were selected out of almost 130 of the best players in Canada. All the best this coming spring as they enter the second round of selection!

Also "way to go!" Kendra Sheppard for making the Edge U15 fall team. 17 girls were on the team and they played top teams in Syracuse and Rochester. Great to see a Star make that program!

And finally - we have four Stars on the U of T Womens field team - Tory Merrill, Caitlin McCallum, Lianne Shafir and Danni Chu. They are currently in 1st place in the OUA and will be playing in the OUA final four on Oct. 31 weekend.

If you are a girl 13 and under this year, have a sister or a neighbour of that age than this information is for you or yours to pass on.
The Toronto Stars have completed their second season of girls rep lacrosse and now have 2 rep teams plus a house league.
Our U15 team played in the top division in the province this year after winning the B division last year.
We ended up winning the Silver Medal - an incredible feat for such a new team. Our U19 Team in its first year won the C division (10-0) and performed well in the B Division Provincials - they will play B Division next year.
Out house league continues to grow and improve.
We had two girls make Team Ontario and 4 of our girls performed well at the Team Canada tryouts.

We will be looking for girls to play on our Stars U15 rep team next year and a new U11 Rep Team is in the works through an association with the Beaches.
For girls 13 and under: In conjunction with Toronto Beaches Lacrosse we are offering the following:

Introduction to Girls Field Lacrosse.

This year Beaches Lacrosse and the Toronto Stars are sponsoring FREE girls field lacrosse instructional sessions and scrimmages on Sundays between 11 am and noon at the new Cherry Beach Astroturf Fields.
The fun starts on September 13th and continues until the end of October, or until it gets too cold to play whichever comes first.
All girls between the ages of 7 and 13 are welcome to come out and learn a new sport, or improve your game if you are an experienced player.
No equipment is required to participate; sticks will be provided to those who don’t have one. You just need to bring your own mouthguard.
Please register in advance through an e-mail to Jim Calder.
